ENTHUSIASM AND EMPATHY

Dr Anderson’s enthusiasm for her vocation is obvious. Her 20+ years of experience (in both a hospital and a general practice setting) have served to increase her commitment. She benefits from dual qualifications having been a career scientist following her original undergraduate degree which focused on medical microbiology and biochemistry. A very patient centred doctor with a gift for listening to, understanding and involving her patients in their care plans, Dr Anderson derives great job satisfaction from addressing some of the more challenging patient issues and helping patients overcome them.

“I feel incredibly privileged to do a job that I find both stimulating and rewarding. My role gives me the opportunity to keep abreast of the latest research and developments in the field of medicine. This allows me to bring my knowledge and enthusiasm to the care and well being of my patients.”

INTEREST AREA

Dr Anderson’s interest in some of the more challenging cases of long-standing microbial infections, including urinary tract infections (UTIs,) paved the way firstly to launch Focus Medical Clinic in 2012 and subsequently The UTI clinic after joining forces with the well respected Urological surgeon Mr Ased Ali.

Dr Anderson says that leaving hospital medicine to enter primary care prompted her interest in this area. ‘Once in primary care I witnessed first hand the fears and frustrations of many longstanding UTI sufferers’.

Dr Anderson saw a need for a specialised facility to test and treat them in a respectful way.

Motivated by her interest in this area, and due to a complete lack of additional training in this area Dr Anderson travelled to Russia, Poland and the United States, where she observed how  diagnostics and therapies used in recurrent/ chronic infection have successfully helped a wide range of patients.

Inspired by Dr Randy Wollcotts Wound Care Clinic in Texas and keen to learn how to tackle biofilm infections more effectively Dr Anderson studied with some of the UKs leading experts in biofilm wound infections. She adapted her new skills to embrace tackling urogenital biofilm infection helping patients with recurrent or chronic urinary infection who are so often overlooked.

Dr Anderson continues to research this challenging and misunderstood disease area. Her scientific background affords her an in-depth understanding of the causes, and the most appropriate treatment. Dr Anderson uses a variety of established treatments in a targeted approach, and complements them with naturopathic remedies and lifestyle adaptations to provide a treatment plan tailored for each individual.

Alongside this approach, Dr Anderson is actively involved in the research and development of new treatments which she hopes will offer even better prospects to her growing list of patients.
